Oven-baked Meatballs

Who doesn’t like homemade meatballs? They are very versatile. You can use any ground meat that you prefer, so that definitely is a win for anyone that loves meatballs! Here are some uses for the good ol’ meatball: meatballs and spaghetti, meatball subs, Swedish meatballs, meatball sliders, slow-cooker party meatballs (barbecue sauce and grape jelly), meatball stroganoff, the list can go on and on. They can go on pizza, be used for soups, and a variety of pasta dishes. It’s a meatball galore! I used this particular meatball recipe for a spaghetti I had to whip up real quick. And yes, I used jarred tomato sauce, (no judging!🤭) BUT I doctored it up and it tasted fantastic. The meatballs took literally 10 minute to prepare and 15 minutes to cook, so dinner was done in no time and my kids loved it! I prefer baked because you don’t have to fry in batches and it’s easier but by all means, if frying is your preferred method for cooking meatballs, go ahead! Also you can make a big batch and bake them ahead of time and store in freezer, so when your really pinched for time, you can pop them out and put time in your favorite sauce and heat them through and Voila!, dinner is served!

Oven-baked Meatballs

*1 pound of ground beef make about 45 mini meatballs. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1/2c panko crumbs
  • 1/4c finely chopped onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic finely minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3c milk
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp season salt
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp each of salt and pepper
Combine all ingredients in a big bowl until well combined. Please don’t over mix.
I shaped the meatballs into 2 inch circles.  If you want a larger meatball, you can shape it into 4-6 inch sizes, but I like the mini size meatballs. If you decide on the mini size, you should get around 45 delicious baby meat balls.

Bake meatballs for 15 -20 minutes. They will be cooked through.
I put mine in some doctored up store bought tomato sauce and cooked the meatballs and sauce for an additional 15 minutes.
