Our day trip to Discovery Park of America

I am a tad bit late on this particular post seeing how this day trip I planned was during the kids spring break.  We went to this little place called Discovery Park of America and it is only 3 hours from Nashville.  I am ashamed of myself for not discovering this place a long time ago.  I have been looking for one day family outings and this place is perfect for that. Discovery Park of America is located in Union City, Tennessee near the tip of the Tennessee and Kentucky line border. I must warn you however that this park will take all day to be prepared. The park is only open from Tuesday through Sunday with time of 10:00am-5:00pm. When you first pull up, you see these little towns within the park. You will see a chapel, some water features, a small settlement, a huge garden, and a train depot that we missed due to the overwhelming amount of things to look at.

This gargantuan bear is the first thing you see upon entering the building.

Every single dinosaur exhibit was immaculate and very clean. I was impressed with each of their exhibits.

This was my favorite Mesozoic era display. This particular one shows predator and prey.

So, let me tell you about this little or rather large rocket display. You can simulate take off by pushing a few buttons. In this picture the smoke from the bottom of the rocket expelled before you hear take off.

The park had an awesome showcase of cars throughout history. Each car they had represented an era and how cars have evolved over time. This SS was my favorite car and reminded me of my dad who use to own one a long time ago.

This 3 story slide in the shape of a human holding a ball is one of the park’s main features. Kids can slide down this humongous figure as many times as they want, even adults. Isaiah went down like 5 times. I went down zero.

The Discovery Park of America had three stories of pure fun and who knew science could be fun.  I would be writing all day if I told you everything they had to offer.  They even have an earthquake simulator and a “secret door” behind a bookcase which shows guest their “enlightenment” exhibits.  In this exhibit they had the cars, the whole military exhibits that showed airplanes, tanks, and uniforms. They also a torture chamber showing the various methods of torture throughout history. Yikes!

There was truly so much to look at and not enough time to take all the pictures and visit every single thing within this massive park.  My advice to you my readers is to make a schedule and take some time to plan so you can see everything in one day or stay the night and go both days.  It will be worth the trip.  Here is the link so you can explore the different activities to have and what the park is like. http://discoveryparkofamerica.com/
